The role

The OSCAR research scientist (RS) in conducting organic materials will join the Optoelectronic Technology Laboratory (OeTL) team investigating conductive polymers and their commercial development.

Responsibilities/duties

  • Adapt and develop existing materials developed at OeTL including material design, new polymerization techniques, and experimental protocols.
  • Test and assess materials using a range of experimental techniques to advance the project.
  • Communicate, record and plan work within the OeTL.
  • Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars.
  • Carry out collaborative projects with industrial partners.

Selection criteria

Essential

  • Applicants must have research level experience in: Polymer/organic electrical materials design, synthesis, and characterization, preferably at doctorate level.
  • Have extensive experience in the wider synthesis of organic materials.
  • Be adept in performing material characterization.
  • Be viewed as a motivated, enthusiastic, organized self-starter.
  • Demonstrate good team-working skills, and the ability to undertake work on joint projects through co-operation and the exchange of information.

Desirable

  • Experience in modifying the electrical properties of polymer materials.
  • Experience in working with organic-based semiconducting materials.
  • Have experience with or be aware of IP protection options and processes.
  • Experience in industrialization of research.
